Careers with Mid Hampshire Healthcare

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a special interest in mental health to join the Winchester City PCN Primary Care Mental Health Team (PMHT).

The post holder will work across the 3 practices that form Winchester City PCN; the Friarsgate Practice, St Paul’s Surgery and St Clements Surgery. The PMHT is a multidisciplinary team, currently consisting of social prescribers, wellbeing advisor, peer support worker and CBT practitioner, with a view to expanding further to include other mental health roles. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and will be an integral member of the PMHT, supporting not only PMHT colleagues but also the wider practice teams, community and secondary care services.

The post holder will work autonomously to manage their caseload and will be able to initiate and deliver appropriate therapy to patients with mental health issues, especially where physical health issues are also present. The post holder will be able to recognise limits to own capabilities and will be confident in referring to other health professionals or regular MDT meetings when this is in the best interests of the patient.

The PMHT encourages practitioners to work holistically with patients to achieve long-term health and wellbeing goals, utilising both individual and group working skills for best outcomes. All members of the PMHT are supported in their growth and development and will be expected to play a part in service improvement of this new and important addition to primary care.
