RHCH ED STREAMING

Emergency Departments (A&Es) nationally are struggling to keep pace with current levels of activity and many are missing their 4 hour targets. National and local audits show that at least 30% of people attending ED would have been better managed by the patient themselves at home or by a different NHS service. This additional pressure in the ED leads to longer waiting times and delays in treatment for patients with more urgent medical problems. The ED at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) in Winchester is no different and is seeing unprecedented demands on its service.

Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (HHFT) have been proactive in finding solutions to tackle this growing problem, one of which is for us, Mid Hampshire Healthcare (GP Federation) to run a GP service at the front door to allow patients to be streamed to a more appropriate service. The aim of this service is to allow the ED to concentrate on the emergencies it was designed to treat. It will afford the opportunity to educate patients about self-care and the most appropriate service for them to use in the future . This pilot starts on the 5th June 2017 and will last for last 6 months

The service runs Monday to Friday 17:00 - 20:00 and Saturdays 16:00 - 19:00

Please do your bit to support the project. Pick the right service at the right time.
